What is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy in Massage: Hydrotherapy, also referred to as 'water therapy' or 'aquatic therapy,' is a valuable adjunct to massage therapy. It involves the deliberate use of water in different temperatures to enhance the therapeutic effects of massage treatments. In my practice, I integrate two primary hydrotherapy techniques: Cryotherapy (ice therapy) and Thermotherapy (heat therapy), often in combination, referred to as Contrast therapy.

Benefits of Cryotherapy: Cryotherapy involves the application of cold temperatures and is particularly effective for pain management and reducing edema, which is swelling or inflammation. By constricting blood vessels and numbing nerve endings, it provides relief and minimizes discomfort.

Benefits of Thermotherapy: Thermotherapy, on the other hand, utilizes the application of heat. It offers a range of advantages, including increased blood flow, reduced pain perception, enhanced collagen extensibility (making tissues more pliable), decreased joint stiffness, and improved range of motion. These effects combine to promote relaxation and facilitate a more effective massage experience.

By integrating hydrotherapy techniques into your massage session, I aim to provide you with a holistic approach to wellness. These methods, when used strategically, enhance the therapeutic benefits of the massage and contribute to your overall well-being. Should you have any questions or preferences regarding hydrotherapy, please feel free to discuss them with me during your session.

What is an emotional release?

An emotional release refers to the process of releasing pent-up or suppressed emotions, often in a therapeutic or cathartic context. This release can take various forms, including crying, shouting, or even laughing uncontrollably. The purpose of an emotional release is to let go of emotions that may have been suppressed or stored within a person, often due to past trauma, stress, or emotional blockages.
If I notice you are currently experiencing a release I will pause the massage and ask you if you would like me to continue or if you would like to take a break. Please note that is a normal experience and I will not pass judgement.

What if I am uncomfortable at anytime during the massage?

I will always respect your boundaries and work within your comfort zone. So if at anytime, for any reason, you are uncomfortable, please let me know. I will stop the massage immediately.

Do I need to arrive early for every visit?

New Client Appointments: For new clients, I kindly request that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. This additional time allows for the completion of essential paperwork and an opportunity to discuss your expectations and preferences for your visit. Your punctuality during this initial consultation process helps me ensure a seamless and tailored experience.

Follow-Up Appointments: For follow-up appointments, you may arrive at your designated scheduled time. I appreciate your commitment to your ongoing wellness and look forward to serving you promptly.

What do I do if I am late?

I understand that life can sometimes throw unexpected surprises. If you find yourself running late for your appointment, please contact me as quickly as possible at (512) 825-4430. I really appreciate your courtesy in keeping me informed.

However, please be aware that my policy allows a 15-minute grace period. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment or need to cancel or reschedule without providing a 24-hour notice, an appointment fee of $50 may be charged. If you are running late for your appointment, please be aware that your appointment will conclude on time as originally scheduled. However, I may be able to extend the appointment if my schedule allows, but additional charges will apply. This policy ensures that I can accommodate all of my valued clients effectively. Thank you for your understanding and for your cooperation.

Is there a weight limit?

I believe in making my massages accessible to all bodies, but my massage table has a weight limit of 600lbs. If you exceed this limit, I would be happy to discuss alternative treatment options that can better accommodate your needs and ensure your comfort and well-being.
